Did you hear that owl? It is calling for me!

When I retired as a Recreation Instructor from San Francisco State University, I was ready for exploration. I love nature - a fact that led me to WildCare, an organization in San Rafael, CA that is dedicated to animal rehabilitation and community education. Lucky for me, I get to take elementary school children on hikes in a state park guiding them in finding birds, deer, bugs and all kinds of wonderful things. With the children, my goal is to plant a seed of wonder and joy in being outside in nature.

Sammi the Owl Series has arisen from this love of nature. Sammi is a little owl who wants to know about the world around her. Though quite small, Sammi manages to do big things, like travel to Hawaii for a birthday party, or, in the newest book, explore the cloud forests of Costa Rica. She has a lot of courage and determination and is an inspiration for me.

I love writing children's stories, especially about animals. Sammi and I will be deciding soon her next destination. Sammi's adventures continue!
