Diana Langner

Diana Langner was born in Fort Richardson, Alaska, lived in Oklahoma until age four, and grew up in the Pacific Northwest where she currently resides.

As a high school student, Diana hoped to become an English teacher. She loved watching the instructor diagram sentences on the blackboard. Her first job at age sixteen, working in a small private nursing home, set her on a different path. From that time, she's worked as a nurse's aide, a licensed practical nurse, and a registered nurse in hospital and nursing home settings.

When Diana took a job as the nightshift charge nurse in a nursing home, she was discouraged at the quality of care that residents received. She was overwhelmingly saddened to see residents living out their lives in an institution. The conditions she saw in the nursing home inspired her to write Danee's story. Little did Diana know that her career as a nurse would lead her to become a novelist.

After realizing WORDS CAN BE POWERFUL, Diana decided to study the craft of fiction writing. Danee's Dilemma is her first novel and is an expansion of her 2009 NaNoWriMo story. Her poem "Weekly Card Game," included in this book, won a Special Mention in the Writers' Journal Poetry Contest and was published in the November/December 2009 issue. Following completion of her first novel, Danee's Dilemma, she's busy capturing the second book of the Danee series, Danee's Decision.
