Dave Smallshire

Dave is a life-long birder who was first gripped by dragonflies some 35 years ago. He is regarded as one of Europe’s top dragonfly experts and with Andy Swash has co-authored 'Europe’s Dragonflies', as well as the acclaimed 'Britain’s Dragonflies', now in its fourth edition. He was also one of the authors of the 'Atlas of Dragonflies in Britain and Ireland'.

Dave has tutored at countless dragonfly training events in Britain and led dragonfly and other wildlife tours around the world. He is a life member of the British Dragonfly Society and a member of its Dragonfly Conservation Group. A retired ecologist, he has a passion for all wildlife and is an accomplished photographer and speaker.
