Brenda has always lived her life from a strong foundation focusing on family, friends, and community. Growing up in central Saskatchewan with her four brothers, where her father farmed and her mother worked full time as a nurse, family, freedom, nature, and animals were the four pillars of her youth. Brenda and her husband Jody raised two beautiful children, Brett and Morgan, in central rural Alberta, also valuing those same pillars she grew up with. She had no idea how significant those pillars would one day become as she desperately fought to rebuild her shattered heart after her near perfect life came crashing down when two police officers knocked on her door with the news that would be every parent's worst nightmare: her 20 year old son Brett had been murdered while at a private house party with his university friends. Her life has been a struggle as she finds her way through the blackness of grief, eventually adapting to a new normal and learning to live with a fractured soul. Discovering how to manage and survive the insane reality of homicide has been overwhelming and soul crushing, yet Brenda strives to make her son proud as she continues to live her life with grace, vulnerability and authenticity. She has deep gratitude for having been blessed with the privilege and honour to be Brett and Morgan’s Momma!
