I have a PhD in Clinical Christian Counseling, and a Master’s Degree in Marital and Family. I have been a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist since 1985 and a Supervisor for 20 years. My husband Dr. Tom Rodgers and I founded Rodgers Christian Counseling and the Institute for Soul Healing Love in Charlotte, North Carolina almost 4 decades.
Together with my husband I developed the Soul Healing Love Model of therapy which we have taught at universities, churches, counseling practices and seminaries in 27 states and 4 countries. I have written many articles for Christian Counseling Today, Journal of Marriage and Family Therapy, Marriage and Family: A Christian Journal and 6 books: Soul Healing Love: Turning Relationships That Hurt Into Relationships That Heal, How to Find Mr. or Ms. Right, Adult Children of Divorced Parents, and The Singlehood Phenomenon and Becoming a Family that Heals, published by Focus on the Family Tyndale, and Tech-Pecked or Tuned In: Finding God in a Digital World which I coauthored with my twin sister, Linda Newton.
In the last 40 years I have treated individuals, couples, children, teens and families with issues such as addiction, do-dependency, communication, conflict resolution, forgiveness/reconciliation, depression, bipolar disorder, grief and loss, anxiety, OCD and more. I have appeared on the shows --- A Time for Hope, His Side Her Side, The American Family, and Marriage Uncensored, and have been featured speakers on NPR and the BBC and Focus on the Family Radio. Together with my husband, I facilitate Couples Workshops and Intensives and Healing the Soul Workshop for Individuals who desire healing and wholeness in Christ.
