Hemant Poudyal Ph.D.

Hemant Poudyal is an Assistant Professor and a Hakubi Researcher at Kyoto University, Japan.

His research focuses on health, specifically on how junk food and tobacco are on track to ruin all the progress made in medicine over the past five decades.

As is typical with physiologists, Hemant has a very broad focus and is constantly seeking to diversify his skills. He believes that being unspecialized is the way to lead a stress-free and exciting life.

This is evident in the courses he teaches and the range of topics he has written on. He teaches clinical communication, presentation skills, nutrition, health sociology to students and researchers.

Hemant is a staunch advocate for free access to knowledge, that science should directly improve the way we live, and researchers must communicate more with the public than with other academic peers.

As an author, Hemant distinguishes himself by blending experience with evidence. He does not write on topics without personal experience. As an example, his latest book "Butt Out: A Scientific Approach to Quit Smoking" is based on five decades of scientific research and his 16 years of experience as a smoker.
