Glenn D. Deckert

For 16 years Glenn held university teaching positions in Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Hong Kong. He also had 6-month or single year appointments in Qatar, Moldova, and Azerbaijan in US State Department positions promoting English teaching abroad. He holds master's degrees from Wheaton College and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and a master's degree and PhD in education from the University of Illinois.

Glenn believes that living and working abroad as a self-supporting "tentmaker" is a viable career option for people of a wide range of skills and training who want to live out a holistic Christian witness among people who have little understanding of the Christian faith.

Glenn retired as an associate professor from the Department of Foreign Languages at Eastern Michigan University but continues to travel abroad as a volunteer in refugee work.
