Paul Barthel, originally from Chicago, was raised in Illinois and Wyoming. With over thirty years of experience in the culinary industry, he has served as both a chef entrepreneur and a restaurant owner, honing his skills in kitchens ranging from large venues to cozy eateries. Alongside his culinary pursuits, Barthel is deeply committed to animal rights advocacy. Notably, he played a pivotal role in the establishment of an Illinois law recognizing pets within domestic legislation. Barthel serves as founder and President of Animal Humane Advocacy, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) focusing on animal welfare and anti-cruelty measures. Barthel is a vocal opponent of the Yulin and Boknal Dog Festivals, actively campaigning against them. Additionally, he dedicates his time to volunteering for various welfare organizations.
