Clara Martin

I’m a Navy brat who moved around the country and the world before defecting to the Army and attending University of Virginia on an Army ROTC scholarship. After graduating, I served for four years before being medically retired with PTSD and severe migraines. Later, I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder (type 1). I became a Sexual Assault Specialist, then a substitute teacher, before finally deciding to pursue my dream of writing. I live in Manassas, VA with my family, dogs, and a multitude of cats.

I’ve volunteered on the Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network, IMAlive Crisis Chatline, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, and, while at University of Virginia, was Head Program Director of my college Helpline. Additionally, I’m a proud member of Team Rubicon, a disaster relief nonprofit composed of veterans, first responders, and amazing civilians.
