George Stumpf was raised in Pennsylvania and attended Milton Hershey (a school for children from families of low income, limited resources and social need). With the smell of chocolate in the air, it was there where he milked cows, played three sports and became a distinguished honors student!
He majored in Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh before finding acting in an introduction to performance class. He became hooked and picking up minors in Theatre Arts and English Lit. George performed in many Regional theatre productions like the Glass Menagerie and while in New York City performed many Off-Broadway productions, including several Shakespeare plays.
He continued to study in Los Angeles at Playhouse West and Upright Citizens Brigade and received countless roles in soap operas (All My Children, Young & the Restless, Days of Our Lives) and television shows (NCIS, Swedish Dicks, Sex Sent Me to the ER) as well as independent film (The Other Wife, The Answer, Mind the Gap, Dead Wrong), print (OneBlade, Temper Pedic, Mercedes Benz) and commercials (Humira, Angel Soft, Fisher Investments). His writing career took off with his indie screenplay, "Passed On", which was a quarter-finalist in the 2009 American Zoetrope Screenplay Contest. He followed that up with a sitcom pilot, "My Two Friends", which placed fourth in the 2011 LA Comedy Festival's Screenplay Competition.
Personal note from the author:
I am so honored to share Melting with you! It's crazy but I never actually set out to write a poetry book nor had I even thought that it would be something that would inspire me. Melting is an accumulation of poems written over the years when I was connected with my raw emotional feelings. If a relationship ended or if I needed to get something off my chest, I just wrote. Last year, I pulled out my writings from under the bed and friends made me realize that some were actually pretty good... and this book is the result!
Putting words on paper really helped get me through some tough times and I am encouraging people, especially those struggling with mental health issues, to do the same, to share their thoughts and feelings. It doesn't have to be poetry or even writing. It can be through song, dance or whatever creative outlet you want to explore. My main intention with this book is to inspire you. I am the perfect example that, if you just follow your heart, anything can be done. I put this challenge to you and please message me with updates along your journey!
