Prof Nicky Roberts

Nicky Roberts is a mum, aunty and teacher who loves reading, telling stories, writing and solving problems. She lives with her brilliant husband, their twins, and two cats – Bean and Milkshake.

Everyday she works, plays and makes things with very kind and clever people: young children, primary school teachers, important people in governments, people who spend their lives figuring out ‘how children learn’, those who want to be doctors (not medical doctors but doctors of ‘how to teach and make the world a better place’) and engineering professors.

Nicky worries a lot that the world is getting hotter and more divided, that children play less and that everyone spends less time talking to each other. She hopes you enjoy and share this book with your special family and friends.

Oh, and if any grown-up asks, you can tell them that Nicky has lots of degrees: B.Sc (UCT), HDE (UWC), M.Ed (UKZN), M.Ed (Cambridge), PhD (WITS). Just say the letters and look serious. They will be impressed. She became a doctor in mathematics education.
