Sheila D Brady

Sheila was born in rural Baltimore City, Maryland where she attended Baltimore City Schools. She attended Morgan State University and Coppin State College where she majored in Social Work.

Sheila’s life’s work has been in public service, as evidenced by her many years of employment with the State of Maryland in juvenile detention, residential treatment and social work programs for at-risk children. She is an advocate for domestic violence victims and family reunification.

Sheila worked at the Baltimore City Department of Social Services as a case manager with the Child Protective Services Program until she retired in 2013.

Sheila's book "Hurry Up and Make It Day" did not come by chance. She spent many sleepless nights listening to the sounds and witnessing her mother being brutally beaten. Reflecting on her childhood, she wrote a poem Hold On Tight expressing her emotional turmoil experienced as a child witnessing Domestic violence. That poem inspired her to write Hurry Up and Make It Day. Well into Sheila's teenaged years she was victim to the emotional turmoil that manifested into a rage that caused her to do the unthinkable!

"Hurry Up and Make It Day" is a must read for those who have or is aware of young children caught in a situation of helplessness while witnessing domestic violence in the home.

Sheila is the mother of two children, Roger and Stacy, and 10 grandchildren of which she is very proud!

Sheila is a Christian and is a firm believer in God, the power of prayer and redemption!
