Shai M. Dromi

Born and raised in Jerusalem, Shai M. Dromi received his Ph.D. in Sociology from Yale University, and is currently an Associate Senior Lecturer at Harvard University. He writes and teaches on how abstract beliefs about morality shape our lives--through international humanitarian organizations, social justice movements, politics, and religion. His first book, "Above the Fray" looks at the the origins of the voluntary humanitarian relief sector, and shows how its unique ethical framework has shaped global policies. His second book, "Moral Minefields", examines how moral logics shape social science debates over research and methods. Dromi’s work has appeared in academic journals such as Rural Sociology, Sociological Theory and Theory & Society, and received numerous awards from the American Sociological Association and the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action.
