Jonathan Robert Moss

Jonathan Moss is a writer who has spent many years living and travelling abroad, exploring 40 countries on five continents during extended trips. Born with wanderlust, and a passion for adrenaline sports and adventure, his travels have taken him deep underground into caves, mines and tunnels, across deserts, up mountains and glaciers, down inside volcanoes, and into jungles, rivers and oceans.

A two-year-long walkabout through Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, China and the collapsing Soviet Union brought many adventures, as this was before the internet, smartphones and Hostelbookers made travelling easy.

A few years later after a particularly boring week at the office, Jon went home and booked a one-way ticket to South America! Frequently perilous bus journeys totalling two whole weeks took him through Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador, with a 7500 km excursion to Easter Island along the way.

Arriving almost broke in Miami from Quito, Jon endured a three-day Greyhound bus ride across eight states to California, then spent the next year split between L.A, Hawaii and home. Following another spell in the UK, he landed his dream job teaching watersports in Grand Cayman, where he worked for 18 months before setting off again for some challenging travelling through Belize, Honduras and Guatemala.

Intent on starting a watersports venture he returned briefly to the UK, drove a dilapidated, overloaded van down to Spain with two friends and settled for eight years on the Costa Blanca. More recently another extended trip took him through Vietnam and into Cambodia.

For now, Jons itchy feet are planted firmly, if temporarily, on British soil!
