Q. Malewezi

Qabaniso “Q” Malewezi is a Malawian poet, writer, cultural producer, and creative consultant whose work spans over two decades. Known for blending artistic expression with systems-building, he develops spaces and opportunities that strengthen Malawi’s creative identity.

His poetry collections The Road Taken (2011), Little Discoveries (2019), and his forthcoming memoir No Dad Club (2025) explore identity, grief, and human connection. He has performed at major festivals including Poetry Africa, Lagos International Poetry Festival, Word N Sound, and CANEX 2024, with features on CNN’s African Voices and BBC World Service.

He is Founder and Creative Director of Kweza, a hub supporting artistic talent and cultural infrastructure. A former member of Real Elements, he trained in the UK in music production and sound engineering. His honours include an Honorary Doctorate from Mzuzu University and a Paul Harris Fellow Award. He continues to mentor emerging artists and lead creative development initiatives.
