Ellen Gelerman

Ellen Gardner Gelerman grew up on Long Island, New York, and spent much of her adult life there. She received her BA in English from Indiana University, leading to a lifelong love of English literature as well as a career in advertising and promotion. Ellen started out at Grey Advertising (New York, NY) writing print, radio, and TV ads, and then moved on to work at major corporations in their promotion and marketing departments.

Though Ellen is retired from her formal career, writing is still her passion. One of her short stories appeared in "The Road To Pemberley: An Anthology of New Pride and Prejudice Stories" (Ulysses Press, 2011), and "The Book of Hannah: A Tragicomedy in Three Trimesters" (2019) was her first novel. In 2023, she published "The Hand of Miriam," a modern Jewish coming-of-age story. The sequel to "The Book of Hannah" -- titled "Hannah and Her Daughters" -- will be published in 2024.

Ellen and her husband Roy, who have two adult children, currently live in Michigan with their two dogs.
