Michael Savarese

As a young immigrant from a close-knit family in Naples, Michael Savarese arrived in New York in the beginning of the swinging 60s and worked in some of the most successful Italian restaurants in Greenwich Village. In 1978, he opened his own restaurant - Ennio & Michael Ristorante - which would go on to become of one of the Village's most popular and enduring restaurants. He has been featured in The New York Times, Gourmet Magazine, and the guidebooks of Mimi Sheraton, as well as on The Today Show and other top rated television shows.

Since closing Ennio & Michael in 2010, Michael has written his first book: his memoir "My Turn to Buy Gelato - A Life Filled with Love and Food," which also includes recipes for many of the most beloved dishes on the menu at Ennio & Michael, as well as articles about Italian Sports, particularly his beloved Naples teams.
