Laura Iodice

Laura Iodice has always loved to read and write. As a young girl, her favorite pastime was visiting her school and public libraries. Later, as a pre-teen, she spent hours on the phone with friends spinning creative stories about their futures. After completing college and graduate school, she taught high school and college English for thirty-seven years, drawing from her experience to mentor student teachers and to publish professional articles about what works best in the classroom. Through it all, though, she always dreamed that someday, she’d have time to write about what matters most to her.

Now, she finally, does. Her creative non-fiction has appeared in The Furious Gazelle, Conclave Magazine, Litro, Metafore Magazine, Crack the Spine and Vending Machine Press. Her poetry has appeared in The Write Launch and What Rough Beast. Where the Heart Lives is her first middle school chapter book publication, but she is already working on her next Bella the Brave adventure!

Beyond writing from her heart, Laura finds time to pursue her other passions: education, social justice and critical literacy issues within her community. And of course, her own heart lives with her friends, her family, and in particular, with their rescue dog, Bella!
