Christine Rucci

Christine Rucci was born January 14, 1964 in Somerville, NJ. She has five brothers and sisters and was raised in an Italian, Catholic family. Education and a strong work ethic was instilled in her and her siblings from a young age. Towards the end of her freshman year she was involved in a horrific automobile accident which would leave Christine hideously deformed, facially disfigured.

Happy to have survived , she went back to school in the fall. It was through the friendships she forged prior to the accident that gave her the strength to continue. She would go on to have over thirty operations to try and repair the damage to her face and jaw.

Too Phased, a memoir, was written by Christine in hope of inspiring others to never give up on yourself or your dreams.

Although it took over three decades to heal from the psychological trauma of losing her identity, she decided it was time to share her story of strength and courage to all who will listen.

After she graduated college in 1987, she floundered for 13 years trying to find fulfillment. She found it with a career in nursing where she became the most empathetic nurse she could be and is currently a practicing RN in NJ. She has been a nurse for 21 years and decided it was time to share her story.
