Janelle Simmons

Plus size model, Janelle, is popularly known as The Curvy Doc. A late bloomer in the writing industry, she only discovered her writing potential when her friends nudged her to tell her story. Janelle has always been passionate about helping others, so after thoughtful consideration, she debuted with a self-help non-fiction dedicated to helping those struggling with their physical appearance. Janelle writes for the triple E effect--to educate, encourage and empower.

She attended Stony Brook University where she majored in Social Sciences Interdisciplinary, minored in Women's Studies, and earned her Master's Degree in Social Work with a specialization in Student-Community Development. She also holds a doctorate degree in Higher Education and Adult Learning from Walden University.

Besides being an award-winning model, a pageant queen and an author, she also works as an ESL teacher and a program manager at a non-profit firm. Janelle is a New Yorker with Trinidadian roots, and currently lives in Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina.
