Ray Buteau

Before becoming a Roman Catholic priest, Ray Buteau's experi-ences led him to the Arctic Circle and Peace Corps work in Harlem,New York.

As a Priest, he took ASL studies at Gallaudet College and usinghis year in the Arctic as a guide, he published Inuit' The People ofCanada's Arctic in 1978. In 1985 he had a key role in the establish-ment of Canada's first Catholic Bible College. After 17 years in parishministry, he took advanced pastoral clinical training in spiritual careand served as a Spiritual Care Provider at Headingly CorrectionalCentre for the next eight years.

After leaving the priesthood in 2002, Ray developed 'Warriorof the Rainbow,' through which he offered spiritual counselingservices in a non-religious context.

In 2012 No Longer Lonely was published and in 2015 ThoseIn Power.

In 2017 a presentation for No Longer Lonely was completed usingTED-talk outline criteria.

Ray's goal in owning his truth as a gay former Catholic priest isto give a voice, and empowerment to many gay Roman Catholicpriests, many in emotionally abusive relationships and many in theLGBTQ community.

He resides in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada.
