Ian Loftus

Dr Ian Loftus is an author and academic. He has a Ph.D. in creative writing and has written over ten books. The range is quite eclectic including; dealing with grief, business and philosophy, poetry and memoir.

He has a series called - Left Us Too Early - which are self-help books on how to use self-expressive and creative writing as a therapy for grief. He also has a series called - Poets, Politics and Philosophy. You'll probably guess what that series is about. The first Poet under the microscope is Oscar Wilde and his essay, 'The Soul of Man Under Socialism'.

He writes mainly non-fiction but does have an unpublished novel called One Hundredth. Perhaps one day it will see the light of day... The last novel he read (for the 3rd time) was 1984 by George Orwell, Orwell is probably his favourite author in both fiction and non-fiction and is the best autoethnographer of our time.

Ian lives on the English-Scottish border in the Lake District, enjoys photography and desperately tries to avoid social media. He tells me he'd rather pick the phone up and talk than send a text. He's confessed that he's dyslexic so please contact him directly if you spot a typo in any of his books, you can also connect with him via his website, or his email address is on the front matter of all his books.
