Stephen Springer

Dr. Springer, a longterm child psychologist and nature lover, observed that many young people are increasingly over-indulged with technology, leading to a lack of solid ground and social perspective. Children need to be better situated to the marvels and wonders of the world around them, which helps them learn to connect to nature and appreciate using nature to help improve mindfulness, inner peace, and anxiety.

More recently, Dr. Springer has become a grandfather and has begun to think more reflectively now about the increasing pressures and challenges that confront young children today in our ever-complex and changing world. Too often, he has observed, that many kids these days are not well situated in the marvels and wonders of their physical world and are more prone to over-interacting with the world of the technical - which can often lead to a lack of solid grounding and appropriate sense of social perspective. In many instances, serious difficulties with relationships and addictions to screens evolve which can remove these children from their important developmental task of anchoring themselves in the here and now.

Current supportive Psychological interventions such as Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) are often used to help children in these circumstances regain their equilibrium and take more control of themselves in their ever-complex world. These types of practical interventions that are in fact useful for all, and can help these children become more grounded and cope better with the realities of their world.
