Tyler Abell

Tyler Abell, George Abell’s son, oversaw the compilation, transcription, and publication of his father’s poetry. The pieces selected for The Abell Book of Art and Verse represent the first collection of George Abell’s work.

Tyler Abell served briefly as US Chief of Protocol under President Lyndon Johnson. He pursued a successful career as a Washington, DC, attorney. In the early 1970s, he also edited and published the diaries of his stepfather, Drew Pearson, a prominent newspaper columnist whose investigative columns and radio and TV broadcasts commanded a huge audience in the 1930s, 40s, 50s, and 60s.
