Bruce Blackman

Bruce Blackman, the writer and lead singer of the band Starbuck, won't be slowing down any time soon. With plenty of chart-climbing tracks under his belt --- some of which date back nearly 50 years, others released just months ago --- he's still doing what he was always meant to do: making music from the soul.

It all started in the '70s when Blackman was in college and met the woman who would inspire the iconic "Moonlight Feels Right," that reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and #2 on the Cash Box Top 100. They soon toured with Electric Light Orchestra, KC and The Sunshine Band, Hall & Oates, Boston, Seals & Crofts, and countless others. They performed on American Bandstand, Solid Gold, The Midnight Special, Dinah Shore, Merv Griffin, and more.

Although best known for "Moonlight Feels Right," Bruce has written nine songs that made the Billboard Hot 100 chart. His latest album, "Starbuck 2022," keeps the '70s spirit of Starbuck alive while homing in on smooth yacht rock grooves. In 2022 his "That Lady Can Dance" topped the charts at yacht rock stations. His 2023 single "You're the Reason" went to #1 on the National Beach Music Chart and was nominated for "National Dance Song of the Year" by the Carolina Beach Music Awards. And his "I Love Doing Nothing" is on the chart today at #3.
