Author, Registered Dietitian and mom, Tera Naset is dedicated to helping kids learn to love real food. She has spent years in her role as a clinical dietitian working with adults suffering from chronic weight gain, diabetes, heart disease and other metabolic diseases. Over and over she has heard patients say that they are "picky" eaters, noting that they don't like the taste of water and the only vegetable they'll eat is corn.
Fascinated by the idea of long-standing taste preferences, Tera has shifted her focus to families and children. Metabolic diseases "run in families" - but how much of this is genetic, and how much is about what the family eats for breakfast, lunch and dinner? And if we start kids off with flavorful "adult" food from the very beginning, might they avoid a lifetime of bland, processed food and the diseases that come with it? Tera's work today seeks to raise kids with sophisticated palates that appreciate real, nourishing and delicious food.
Tera lives and works in Chicago. She and her husband John love to shop for, cook and eat amazing food. They are raising two healthy little foodies of their own, Madeleine and Francis.
