Bob Ross grew up in China Lake, CA, St. Thomas, VI, and Cocoa Beach, FL, where he hiked, trapped mongoose, and watched Alan Shepherd launch into space. None of those or other activities and adventures foretold his role as an author, however.
Upon graduation from the University of Florida with a business degree, the Army commissioned Bob a 2LT of Armor, which began a 28-year career spanning assignments in the United States, Latin America, the Pacific, and deployments to Southeast Asia. During Operation DESERT STORM he served on the Joint Staff in the Pentagon.
After his Army career, Bob was able to accompany his wife to their daughter's school activities, ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle, learn to play Music of the Night on the piano, and enjoyed reading. Within a year, a close friend invited him to NJ to help analyze distribution centers for several major book publishers in the U.S., Canada, and England. Preferring the south to hectic, Bob incorporated and performed the work on a consulting basis.
Concurrent with that work, Bob used his considerable experience as a photo hobbyist to take on paid assignments. In 2016 he expanded his photography perspective into the air as an FAA-certified drone pilot.
In 2008 Bob, along with several other involved citizens, began following the actions of local elected leaders. They eventually mounted successful efforts to unseat all five county commissioners, two school board members, the sheriff, a mayor, and a city councilman, "I quickly learned that politicians behave much differently when people pay attention".
During that period he began questioning the constitutional authority for a federal minimum wage, and what may happen if additional understanding of the Founding Fathers' intent was to surface. That was the genesis of the book Founders' Intent.
