M. A. Bilbrough (Michael Alan) was born to actor parents in Stratford-upon-Avon, UK, (of Shakespeare fame). He has been an English teacher for most of his working life, and teaches in Spain. He studied for a degree in Spanish philology at London University and then specialised in language teaching and methodology studies at Seville University, where he took a PhD and wrote a doctoral thesis on the use of gesture in the language-teaching classroom. He devised a complete hand-gesture language to accompany the input of new vocabulary and grammar.
His latest self-study English books include activities to help the learner progress in the target language more quickly using what he calls an "active reading" of the text.
M.A. Bilbrough lives in Seville, Spain with his Spanish wife and bilingual daughter. He enjoys nature photography, birdwatching, walks in the spectacular Andalusian countryside and visits to the Seville old quarter with family and friends to enjoy the delicious tapas.
