Stephen C. Simon

I am a retired pastor with a deep love for God's Word and especially for the Psalms. Since writing "Holy Walks," I have continued to study, memorize, and pray the Psalms, and this has proven to be a long-lasting and enriching discipline, one that has drawn me closer to God and, hopefully, shaped my heart to be a bit more like God's heart.

My professional ministry began in 1973 with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, a national interdenominational ministry to college students. I served with them for twelve years, first as a campus staff member in Oregon and then as their area director for Western Washington and Alaska. Following my 1989 ordination as a Minister of Word and Sacrament by the Seattle Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), I went on to serve in various roles with five churches: three in western Michigan, one in eastern Washington, and one in northern Idaho.

I have an A.B. in Psychology from Stanford University and two graduate degrees from Fuller Theological Seminary: an M.A. in Theology and an M.Div.

Not long after writing "Holy Walks," my wife and I both retired and moved from Spokane, Washington, to Fort Mill, South Carolina, in order to be near family. Here in our new home, I remain active in ministry through guest preaching, teaching various church groups, and serving in several administrative roles with the local presbytery.I am married to Carol Simon, a philosopher and author, as well as a former college professor and administrator. She is also the author of several books, which you can find on Amazon or read about on her website (search for "Caroline J. Simon"). We have two married sons of whom we’re extremely proud, wonderful daughters-in-law, two incredible granddaughters, and two amazing step-grandsons. We also have an energetic Brittany Spaniel named Bella who keeps me going on lots of “holy walks”!
