David Sebastian

David L. Sebastian is the former Dean of Anderson University School of Theology. He assumed that position on July 1, 1995. His nineteen years of service as Dean was the longest tenure in the history of the School of Theology. He was the seventh person to hold this position. Prior to this, he served as the Senior Pastor of the Salem Church of God in Clayton, Ohio. Dr. Sebastian currently serves as Dean Emeritus and Minister at Large for Anderson University.

Before his call to Salem Church of God, Dr. Sebastian served as Senior Pastor of North Hills Church of God in Phoenix, Arizona, and before that time was Associate Pastor of the Glendale Church of God in Indianapolis, Indiana. He also served as adjunct faculty at Anderson University.

An ordained minister of the Church of God, he has served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Anderson University, member of the National Board of Christian Education, the Warner University Board of Trustees, and the Church of God Retirement Communities Board of Trustees. He previously served as a resident Elder of the Madison Park Church of God in Anderson, Indiana.

Dr. Sebastian has preached at State and International Camp meetings, revivals, minister’s conferences, preaching clinics, college religious emphasis weeks and for other special assignments. Reverend Sebastian graduated from Middletown High School, Warner University, Anderson University School of Theology and Fuller Theological Seminary. He took his Doctor of Ministry Degree in Theology with a concentration in evangelism and church growth. His dissertation was titled, “Pastoral Leadership of the Church in a Transitional Community Based upon Church Growth Principles.” While completing his Master’s Degree at Anderson School of Theology, he was the recipient of the Schemmer Fellowship in Christian Education.

Dr. Sebastian is married to the former Deborah Miller. Debbie has also recently retired from Anderson University where she served in various administrative roles. She is a graduate of Miami University of Ohio (B.S., 1970) and Indiana University (M.S., 1979) and taught in secondary education for several years. David and Debbie have two daughters. Julie is a graduate of Anderson University and Fuller Theological Seminary and is living in Anderson with her husband, daughter and son. Amy also graduated from Anderson University and is living in Nashville Tennessee with her husband and two daughters. Debbie and David enjoy reading, traveling, and exercising.
