My first book, John Steele & Family, mixes telling stories about a family with genealogy. Though it is my first published book, I have been a writer and editor for many years.

My love of history started early. So early that I don't remember, but by the age of 11, I was besieging librarians with questions about the execution of Anne Boleyn, Henry VIII's second wife. The librarians were very patient with me.

In telling stories of ancestors, my goal is to put them in context. Did they grow up on a farm, or a big city? Did they have a chance for education? What was their neighborhood like? What was their work like? How did they meet their spouse?

I love telling history stories, and trying to make them come alive.
