Laurie Pastore is an elementary literacy coach. She is a graduate of Williams College and The Bank Street College of Education, and has worked as a classroom teacher, literacy consultant and literacy coach for the past 20 years. Laurie taught third grade in Ardsley, NY at the Concord Road Elementary School, where the faculty earned a national award for Model Professional Development from the U.S. Department of Education. It was in this setting that she learned the value of using research, collaboration and reflection to plan for best practice in the classroom. This desire to collaborate with teachers led Laurie to join LitLife in 2003. In this position, she worked with teachers and administrators to plan curriculum, align teaching to the state standards, and develop innovative solutions to the growing impact of testing. In 2012, driven by a desire to return to school based service, Laurie began working as a literacy coach. She currently works for the Mamaroneck Union Free School District. Her work focuses on designing and implementing curricula that supports the interests and passions of all young readers and writers.
