Jonny Halfhead

Jonny Halfhead grew up as a third generation Jehovah's Witness and remained one for twenty years, becoming thoroughly immersed in its doctrines and practices. When circumstances ejected him from that controlling and all-encompassing lifestyle, he was in a unique position to follow his love of music and expand his imagination as an all-round artist. Jonny Halfhead started a Gothic music fanzine in the early nineties, joined a band called 13 Candles and then formed his own band called Personality Crisis in 1994.

In 2018 Jonny Halfhead released his first short story "Nine Pills" through Amazon, which had many elements based on his youth as being one of Jehovah's Witnesses and the struggles involved with being associated with a cult. A few months later he released another short story "The 1975 Apocalypse" which once again drew on his experiences as a Jehovah's Witness from his youth followed by a third fictional short story “The Offence of Grace” which highlighted the problem of institutional child sex abuse in his former religion.

In 2021, in response to requests, a follow on story from his first book Nine Pills resulted in a new book called From God To Goth – A Nine Pills Sequel which follows the story from leaving the Jehovah’s Witnesses and trying to find a way in the outside world, drawn very heavily from Jonny’s own experiences.
