Jessica Oliva Sinatra

Jessica Sinatra was born and raised in New York City, a first generation American to an Italian immigrant family. Born with Cerebral Palsy, she experienced bullying in school and later used these experiences in her books to educate children on kindness and accepting diversity. As a teen, Jessica spent many summers abroad in Rome, Italy becoming passionate with the language, culture, music and arts. She taught music in a piano school for eight years discovering a new passion, teaching. Inspired by working with children, she received a master's degree in Elementary Special and General Education in 2011. It was shortly after graduating that she decided rather than just teaching a single classroom of students, she would combine her passions of writing and teaching by creating educational stories for children, reaching students and children across the globe. Her first published work was Leonardo the Lion: A Leap of Faith, for which she received honorable mention in The Purple Dragonfly Book Awards (2019) in the category of School Issues.
