MD Ramon L Rodriguez

Ramon L. Rodriguez, MD, is a Board Certified Neurologist with Fellowship Training in the Medical and Surgical management of movement disorders. He received his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus in San Juan, PR, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Rodriguez completed his Internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. After this, he completed his residency in Neurology at the same institution under the mentorship of Dr. John Calverley. His fellowship was completed under the mentorship of Michael S. Okun, MD, Hubert H. Fernandez, MD, and Dr. Kelly Foote, MD. Following his fellowship, he joined as a faculty member in the Department of Neurology at the University of Florida, College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida. During his tenure at UF, Dr. Rodriguez held the position of Director of Clinical Services for the University of Florida Center for Movement Disorders and Neurorestoration and Director of the Clinical Research Center for Neurological Disorders, where he supervised over 50 clinical research studies encompassing areas such as Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, Dystonia, Alzheimer's Disease, Deep Brain Stimulation, Advanced therapies for Parkinson's disease, Telemedicine for Movement Disorders and the quality of care initiative for best care for patients with movement disorders.

For more than a decade, Dr. Rodriguez has followed his passion for caring for patients with complex movement disorders and cognitive disorders. Besides PD, Dr. Rodriguez also cares for patients with “Parkinson’s plus syndromes”, Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. He has performed over 10,000 botulinum toxin procedures and spent many years performing clinical research looking to delay or arrest the progression of neurodegenerative disorders. His expertise as a physician and his extensive experience in research awarded him multiple accolades, including one of the Top Doctors in Orlando, 40 under 40 and he was awarded the status of Fellow, American Academy of Neurology, acknowledging his exemplary work and achievements in the neurosciences, the clinical practice of neurology, academic and administrative neurology, in the AAN, and in the community.

Dr. Rodriguez has extensive experience as a teaching clinical faculty in multiple medical schools. Because of his excellent teaching qualities, Dr. Rodriguez has been invited to lecture in several national and international forums, been honored with the opportunity to teach doctors about the proper assessment of patients with neurological disorders, how to conduct research in human subjects and how to treat patients in all stages of PD, HD and Dystonia, among others. Dr. Rodriguez is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology, Movement Disorders Society, IAPRD, Huntington's Study Group and Parkinson Study Group, among others.
