Alexander Kupfer, born in Bonn, has studied German, American, and English literatures at various universities in Germany and the UK. After his PhD, he published several non-fiction books in the fields of literature, art, and cultural history. His short story "The Stone" was shortlisted for the Southwest Review Fiction Prize and won 1st prize in the 2018 Earlyworks Press Short Story Competition. Together with 25 stories by other authors, it is available in the anthology "Unsafe Spaces" (2019). His story "Circles" was a semifinalist for the Tulip Tree fiction prize and longlisted for the Exeter Short Story Prize. He is currently working on a novel and a collection of paintings.
