Collette Dahl Lorentzen (1956 - ?) Born in central Iowa and raised on an acreage, she had many types of animals growing up. As a youngster of five, her kindergarten teacher saw her creative abilities after drawing a chicken. The teacher was so impressed that she kept the drawing for future reference. Collette has now been a fine artist/ illustrator for many years. She paints on commission and when there is time she paints those things she loves in nature. Years ago when her children were young she drew a cartoon dog that she wanted to use in a cartoon strip. After all her favorite shows to watch on TV were Disney and Loonie Tunes. She could not think of funny ideas for her character so she put the drawings in a sketch book and all but forgot about them. One day, while working at her full time job, she encountered a woman that wanted to hire Collette for her children's book illustrations. For some reason, she pulled out the old pictures of the dog she had sketched many years earlier as examples of some of her work. She then realized that this is what she had drawn these pictures for. It was also clear that, even though she is not a teacher she could use Wilber to teach children basic morels and values. She saw all of the troubles in the world today and wanted to make a difference in the lives of as many children as she can in a fun and entertaining way. Wilber and Oliver are Collette's passion. They are written and illustrated to hopefully make a positive change the lives of children for their future and everyone else!
