David Ursin is an American born author who has spent his entire working life in health care - initially in dietary as he earned his B.S. degree in Nutrition then as a Registered Nurse after earning his B.S.degree in Nursing. He was born to a Norwegian immigrant Father and Swedish Mother and spent his first five years growing up in a rural farming community in West Germany as his Father served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. His family moved to the U.S. to stay when he was six years old.
Before starting college, he spent three months traveling East Africa while helping to build a rural school in a small village outside of Nairobi then spent several months hiking the back country of Alaska.
His first writing focused predominantly on short story and Novella length vintage science fiction in the vein of early Asimov, Simak and Heinlein. Interests in medical science fiction evolved later and would redirect his writing towards medical drama.
In his free time, he can be found sailing his wooden gaff-rigged dory around the New England coastline with Narragansett Bay and the Vineyard Sound being his favorite waters.
