Sarah Jane Douglas

Sarah Jane Douglas is a writer, award winning artist (Blue Peter badges count, right?) and former teacher. She has two grown up sons, and lives with her partner, Paul, in an old fishing village in the Scottish Highlands. If she's not working she's walking; she's climbed all 282 Munros - Scotland's highest mountains - and is currently summit camping her way round all the Corbetts (there are 222). For Sarah, walking is more than just her coping mechanism for life, it has become part of who she is. Despite the challenges and difficulties of ongoing health issues, she continues to put one foot in front of the other and keeps on walking - sometimes squelching, on occasion crawling, often cursing.

Just Another Mountain is a memoir and Sarah's first book; it is a story about grief and family, of losing love - and finding it again - and is an example of the resilience of the human spirit.

Ahead of the launch of her book, Sarah appeared on ITV breakfast show, 'Lorraine' in June 2019.

Just Another Mountain was awarded Silver in TGO's 'Outdoor Book of the Year' category, 2019, and was shortlisted for the Edward Stanford Travel Writing Award, March 2020. It was also a Waterstones Scottish Book of the Month, April 2020.
