M.D Ley was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, in the early eighties to a middle-class family. He was the youngest of three children, a late lamb. Raised by a strict father a teacher by profession and a loving ever forgiving mother. Through M.D Leys youth he played in the dust and sand, kicking soccer balls and excelling on track and field obtaining provincial colours for 100m and 200m sprints respectively. Mischievous by nature, he found himself in hot water most of his youth and was often blamed for the wrong doings of other kids in his circle. Labelled the mischief maker, he soon grew fond’ of the whippings which were freely dished out by disillusioned parents. At the age of thirteen, M.D Ley took up various small jobs to earn extra money, one of those being that of a ‘paperboy’. He painstakingly saved up enough money to even support his parents during tough days. Information technology intrigued M.D Ley as he fiddled with computers. His curiosity served him well and his show of entrepreneurship glistened brightly as he began selling specially built computers for customers from the age of sixteen. Earning a decent living though not enough. His aspirations were far too high. After completing school, due to financial constraints and difficult times he could not pursue a University qualification full time. M.D Ley immediately started working at the age of eighteen for various Banks, learning and studying through these institutions and obtaining various qualifications in Finance. Simultaneously, he studied part-time at a higher learning tertiary institution in Information Technology and Television Media obtaining various local and international qualifications.
