Howard N. Kenyon lives in Portland, Oregon, where he thrives on gardening, occasional hikes, and grand vistas. He and his wife, Kim, have four adult children.
Howard grew up a preacher's kid in New Jersey, attended Florida Southern College, where he was captain of the water ski team. He earned his master's and doctorate at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He's also lived in the Ozarks, Taiwan, and Northwest China, and has traveled extensively through the U.S. and East Asia.
A lifelong Pentecostal, he is vice president of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon. His life work has included university student outreach, leadership development, pastoral leadership, intercultural ministry, direct service to those in need, and public policy advocacy. He has lectured at hundreds of universities, seminaries, and conferences throughout the United States and in numerous other countries.
His most recent book, Ethics in the Age of the Spirit: Race, Women, War, & the Assemblies of God, is based on his doctoral work in theological ethics, reflecting on a century of Pentecostal engagement with American society. Years of working on the edges of missional endeavor led to his first book, Night Shift: Crossing the Cultural Line for the Kingdom.
Ethics "in street talk", Howard says, is "living out what you believe." Through his essays, blogging, and social media conversations, he continues to speak out on faith and ethics.
