Dr Joanne Coyle PhD

Joanne Coyle is an award-recognised Scottish author of historical mysteries inspired by true events. Before turning to fiction, she spent twenty-five years in health services research and earned a PhD in Medical Sociology.

Her fascination with near-death experiences (NDEs) led her to examine over 400 cases, resulting in three non-fiction books that delved into consciousness, the afterlife and other extraordinary phenomena.

Joanne’s debut novel, The Doctor, the Witch and the Rose Stone, garnered international recognition, with honours from the Paris Book Festival, The BookFest Awards, the Independent Author Network Book of the Year Awards and The Africa Laureate Awards.

Her second novel, Echoes of Glenisla, received a five-star rating and was a Gold Winner in the adult fiction category of the Readers’ Choice Book Awards. The work draws on one of Scotland's most notorious eighteenth-century murder trials to weave a story of secrets, lies, half-truths and injustice, with a subtle thread of the supernatural.

Joanne lives in Scotland, where she continues to uncover and share the astonishing stories of those forgotten or misrepresented by history.
