Bereket Abraha Negassi was born in
Ethiopia in the mid-'70s. When his beloved
country achieved her independence after a
thirty-year struggle that led to the recognition of Eritrea as a country, he officially
became an Eritrean. Later, he and his wife
moved to the United States and became
citizens. They are raising three beautiful children here and feel
blessed with everything they have achieved.
Bereket's formal education includes degrees in Human
Resource Management, Natural Science, and Nursing. His
informal education has been earned from talking to elders,
reading books, and life experiences in Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya,
Sudan, Egypt, and the United States. He has a lot of stories to
tell regarding both his physical and spiritual journeys.
This heart-centered author is very thankful to have fulfilled two of his dreams. One was to visit Egypt; the other was
to write a good book. It took him over two years to research
and write Rectitude. It was presented at the 9th Annual
CARD (Creative Activity and Research Day) and earned
him the 2019 Academic Leadership Award from Vizuri
Kabisa, the University of San Francisco's African American
Student Union.
In addition, he was awarded the 2019 Dean's Medal
for Promoting Professionalism from the University of San
Francisco School of Nursing and Health Professions.
The author is grateful to have met many wonderful
people at the University of San Francisco and at Walden
House, which you will learn about in Book 1. Because
of his experiences at Walden House, Bereket is donating
10% of the sales of this book to them.
