Kelly Hanes

Born and raised in small-town Ohio, Kelly now lives in and writes from Houston, Texas. Kelly is author of Random God Sightings, and her blog, The Other Sermon, can be found at KellyHanes.com.

A graduate of the University of Houston, Kelly received the Outstanding Thesis of 2011 Award from The Honors College for her thesis, "Wordsworth and The Religious Experience." She also received Honorable Mention in the Houston Tolerance Essay Contest sponsored by Rice University Boniuk Center for the Study and Advancement of Religious Tolerance and the Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston Partnership in 2004.

Wife to one, human mother to four and dog mother to two, Kelly runs the greenbelt trails in the morning with her boxer Sophia, where she works out the ideas for her stories in her head before coming home and writing them down; and on Sunday mornings you will find her sitting in silence with the Quakers at the Live Oak Meeting House.
