About Chip Hill

I am retired from three careers: Air Force officer, defense and space industry, and university engineering research. I live with my wife, Carmel, in College Station, Texas. We are blessed with three children and five grandchildren. Things I like to do are read (history is a particular favorite), watch sports (especially local college sports), play guitar, travel, simple woodworking, piddle in the yard, and indulge my curiosity about things. Oh, and did I mention writing?

The CLOUDLAND series, about a magical world hidden from our eyes in the clouds, is the first project I launched after my retirement. The basic material was there for decades (the idea for the first book came from a poem I wrote in high school), it just needed to be packaged and polished. I hope you like them. I had a break in the series after Book 3, as I had to search for a new illustrator. But now Book 4 (Cloudlands & Darklands) and 5 (Battle for Cloudland) have been released with some terrific illustrations by my new artist, Jose Dennis.

Channeling another interest area of mine is a book I call "Thoughts from an Observationist." It contains some of my thoughts gathered over the years on who we are and why we do what we do. It ranges from the serious to the silly and humorous. I believe reading it provides an additional peek at Chip Hill the person.

I have also written a contemporary teenage musical called FINDING, with the inaugural performance April, 2022 in College Station, Texas. I am kind of excited about this... it has a wholesome, upbeat message and music all ages can enjoy. I look forward to finding additional performance groups and venues to bring it to life, and that should keep me busy when I'm not writing.
