Sheila Urita Mitchell grew up on the Island of Barbados with her parents, seven siblings, her grandmother, and an uncle. As a shy girl, Sheila often had difficulty in expressing her feelings, and would isolate herself while engrossed in her own world of books. Four years after finishing High School, Sheila immigrated to Canada in order to join her eldest brother. Settling in Toronto where she currently resides, Sheila is a graduate of York University. Sheila's intention to pursue a career in Social Work was set aside as she resumed her place in the banking industry. This she did until her retirement. Any regrets? "Not at all!" says Sheila. "I always had respect for the written word, and I knew that one day my desire to write, which I think is my true calling, would manifest itself." And it did! Sheila started out by writing poetry. She has written several poems, and has had publications with Poetry.Com. Sheila's desire to become a Children's Author was partly inspired by her grandson. As his caregiver, she would word the daily activities that they did together. The outcome? "I Love You, Grandma!" Sheila has also written a second children's book titled "GOD DID!" When not writing, she resorts to her hobby making beautiful scarves, and blankets. Sheila has deviated somewhat from Children's Literature, and has recently completed her third book, which is an inspirational book titled "REFLECTIONS, MUSINGS, POEMS (Lift Up Your Eyes Unto The Hills). " I Love You Grandpa" is Sheila's fourth book.
