FMT Macdonald

Fiona Macdonald is a writer and retired solicitor. Born and brought up in Glasgow she started work in Lewis as an apprentice solicitor in the 1970’s. Her contract was for two years but she got stuck and never made it back to mainland Scotland.

After completing a creative writing degree with the Open University she started her first book St Kilda Fever. Lewis Amnesia was published the following year in 2020. The next book in the Dr Helen MacAllister series is due for release in the summer of 2021

Her hobbies include tap dancing and shouting at the radio.

She lives with her husband, son, collie, 3 hens and a crow called Derek.

She is adamant that the character of Helen MacAllister is not semi autobiographical pointing out that unlike Helen she has never smoked, delivered a baby or owned a Jack Russell. She does however admit to the occasional glass of gin.
