J. Scott VanLester

J. Scott is an American filmmaker, writer, and graphic novelist whose work blends mythic imagination with psychological depth. A lifelong comic book and science‑fiction fan, he has created more than eighty books across interconnected series spanning science fiction, horror, fantasy, and literary adaptation.

He began writing as part of his recovery from a head injury, rebuilding language through storytelling. That experience shaped his voice: stark contrasts, emotional clarity, and a signature black‑and‑white art style defined by bold negative space.

Since publishing his first novel in 2018, he has built a growing library of graphic novels and illustrated fiction, including cosmic epics, time‑travel adventures, reimagined folklore, and modern takes on classic characters. His work is unified by a fascination with identity, trauma, transformation, and the unseen forces that shape the human soul.
