Lena Colleen

Colleen Franklin aka Lena-Colleen was born in Springfield Gardens, New York to Cleophus Jr. and Judy Brown. She has three siblings. She has a daughter, Ashley Moten. Lena-Colleen is a Veteran of the U.S. Army and holds a Bachelors degree in Marketing and Management.

Writing has always been a part of Lena-Colleen's life, but she didn't take it seriously until later after writing her first unpublished book and film script of the same name. Although she was a dancer and athlete, Lena-Colleen was shy and didn't want the attention. She was happy being behind the scenes.

Lena-Colleen's life took a dramatic turn after 9/11, and she walked away from a Marketing job in New York. She began transcribing to make ends meet and began writing seriously. It wasn't until she took the leap and moved to Atlanta, where the film scene began to heat up, that she started to actually make films and work as a script supervisor. Lena-Colleen has four films and a music video to her writing credit and a host of films that she has script supervised. The very first film she was a script superviser called, A Family on Edge can be seen on Amazon Prime and Vudu. The next one is on the iONE platform, A Space for Creators, called Side Chick, and the most recent is a feature film titled, His, Hers and the Truth, which is an American Black Film Festival (ABFF) narrative section selection.

Lena-Colleen enjoys writing scripts but finds book allow her the freedom to tell stories which she loves where script formats are a bit more restrictive.

The current book Protecting Your Intellectual Property: Copyrights Are Not Enough was written to educate writers on basic tasks they should do to protect their work. She wanted to lead with a book that would be a resource to her fellow writers. Lena-Colleen prefers to read non-fiction books and is currently working on several autobiographical books that shed light on topics such as mental health, life purpose, trauma and overcoming them.
