F. J. Bowman

Born in 1938, F. J. Bowman grew up in the aftermath of World War II and spent his youth fascinated by what men and women, in wartime or otherwise, do when faced with sudden, unexpected danger.

He has practiced law (including defending two cases in the army where his clients faced the death penalty), traveled behind the Iron Curtain in the mid-1960's (where he had an encounter with an East German spy), and taught law for 23 years where he garnered numerous prizes for his teaching.

But his first love is writing stories about ordinary people who do extraordinary things when faced with great peril. His characters are not fearless and possess no supernormal skills or abilities, but they face their fears and dangers head-on with guts and quick thinking. Jack’s love of history shows up repeatedly when his modern-day characters use old clues to solve today’s puzzles.
